VINTAGE CHOC ICE
I found this old choc ice wrapper folded up in the ash tray of the Variant recently. It would most likely have been bought by my dad during a day out in the late 1970’s for either himself, my mum or my 4 brothers or sisters in the back seat.

NORTH BAR WITHOUT BEVERLEY
A scale replica of the historic North Bar in Beverley, rebuilt in a holiday village close to Filey in East Yorkshire. For anyone who knows the original, the attention to detail on this copy is outstanding!
On the 1st May 1971 a brand new Volkswagen Variant Type 3 Squareback was purchased by my late father, Donald Thomson from Highway Motors in Luton, England. The car was used for just over 30,000 miles of service before being garaged in 1979 where it has remained ever since. I inherited the car from my dad in August 2011 and this blog documents my efforts to restore the car to it's former glory. All content by Mark Thomson unless credited otherwise.
